What are quality certifications, and why are they important to us?

The quality certifications we focus on at Miguel Caballero are divided into two groups: product quality certifications and process quality certifications.

Product quality certifications primarily aim to endorse optimal user protection in the event of a ballistic threat or motorcycle accident. The main standards that validate and certify us in this regard are:

• NIJ (National Institute of Justice): This certification from the National Institute of Justice in the United States assesses and classifies the effectiveness of ballistic resistance in personal protective equipment, widely used by security forces, military, and state entities, among others, who require this type of specialized protection. We currently hold 8 active certifications from the NIJ.
• CE (Conformité Européenne): The CE certification means that the garments have been tested to meet the minimum safety requirements for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in motorcycle clothing, widely used by security companies in Latin America, value transport, courier services, logistics, and individuals who use motorcycles as a means of transportation.

Process quality certifications are internationally recognized and endorsed, confirming a company’s commitment to quality, environmental management, occupational safety, secure trade, and more. Here are the most notable certifications we hold in this area:

• ISO 9001: This global standard specifies requirements to ensure that the design, manufacturing, and marketing processes of a company’s products or services meet the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction. This is achieved through the implementation of a Quality Management System (QMS) that allows for the identification, monitoring, and continuous improvement of internal processes.
• ISO 14001: This certification is essential for companies that wish to demonstrate their responsibility and commitment to environmental protection through sustainable practices implemented during production stages.
• ISO 45001: Establishes essential requirements to ensure the occupational safety of an organization’s employees and visitors by preventing work-related injuries or illnesses.
• BASC: This certification is granted to companies that implement and maintain safe and reliable practices in international trade, preventing illegal activities such as smuggling, drug trafficking, and terrorism, among others.
• BA 9000: This is the application of the ISO 9001 standard to the manufacturing of armored vests. With this certification, companies provide assurance by setting requirements that ensure the quality, durability, protection, and resistance of these products under extreme environmental conditions.
